It’s a geostationary satellite Jim, but not as we know it

We’re proud to be representing SWISSto12, a pioneering aerospace company HQ’d in Switzerland that’s boldly disrupting the satellite communications market with a whole new class of #SmallSat for geostationary orbit.

Named HummingSat after the small, agile hummingbird, SWISSto12’s satellite platform is the size of a dishwasher - up to ten times smaller than the conventional truck-sized geostationary satellites they augment or replace.

At a stationary orbit point exactly 35,786 km above earth, each HummingSat can potentially deliver broadcast, broadband and safety services to ⅓ of the earth.

The company has already secured deals to supply HummingSat to Intelsat and Inmarsat (acq. Viasat) - two of the world’s largest and most trusted satellite operators on whose communications services billions of people depend.

The key to creating a new micro class of GEO satellite is Swissto12’s proprietary 3D-printed Radio Frequency components. There are already over 1,000 of these components in orbit on other satellites and their compact, high-performance capabilities open up the opportunity for payloads supported by smaller, lower-cost satellite platforms.

Demand for HummingSat and SWISSto12 components from the SpaceComs industry has been huge. Having raised €50 million in venture capital, the company has now generated over €200 million in back orders.

The first HummingSats will be in orbit by 2026 so the countdown starts now… (did we mention that unlike conventional GEO satellites, HummingSat’s are small enough to hitch a ride on another launch?)

Check out this SWISSto12 video to see how this small, agile bird will look in orbit.

Finding the right comms formula for FinTech Success

We’re often asked about the differences between technology PR and thought leadership and which works best for any given flavour of tech company.

The answer for Know-your-Customer (KYC) FinTech company, Kyckr, is an integrated mix of the two.

For Kyckr, a busy news schedule based on partnership announcements, product launches, M&A announcements, newsjacking and executive thought leadership upped their profile with prospects, positioning them as the innovative industry leader.

In nine months, the ThoughtLDR team delivered over 75 pieces of earned coverage across the banking and fintech press and launched Kyckr’s new ‘Ultimate Business Owner Verification’ tool.

We also launched Kyckr’s thought leadership programme of data-driven reports, podcasts, by-lined articles, interviews, webinars and blogs so their brilliant executive team could speak in more depth about the company’s mission to use technology to help companies quickly onboard and build trusted relationships with customers and fight global money laundering - a trillion dollar problem.

In the words of Ian Henderson, Kyckr’s former CEO and current NED at Metro Bank,

When you operate in complex, fast-moving, high-tech industries, having a partner that can think strategically and execute across the complete comms mix is priceless.

ThoughtLDR’s attitude and ideas are backed up by superior delivery, and the value of their consultancy and in-depth knowledge of the Fintech space has been second to none.”
