If you look up Design PR in the dictionary, there’s probably a picture of Alice. Over the years, Alice has accumulated a wealth of experience working with international design and culture clients including London Design Festival and Sir John Soane's Museum.

We grabbed a coffee and a zoom room to find out what Alice likes doing in her spare time (spoiler alert: more design!), her journey into PR and what excites her about taking up the account reins with our client Monotype.

Q: What are your interests outside of work, Alice?

A: Outside of work, I’m an architecture nut, often taking trips to strange and wonderful places to see a unique architectural feat. I try to combine this with travel, planning trips around a Le Corbusier structure I haven’t seen. Pre lockdown, I visited the Bauhaus school just outside of Berlin, where there is a wealth to see related to the school’s evolution. Next on my list is a Catholic Pilgrimage church in Southern Germany by the architect Gottfried Böhm!

Q: Tell us about your journey into the world of PR

A: I studied History of Art at the University of Leeds and really enjoyed writing about visual culture so public relations within the creative industries seemed like a natural step. After graduating, I joined the press office at a leading luxury eyewear company,  where I worked on brand collaborations and exhibitions at the Design Museum. This was my first real foray into design!

Keen to get some experience agency side, I joined a London-based cultural communications agency, working across design and culture clients such as Be Open (a design think thank), a constant source of design inspiration. A bit like ThoughtLDR, no day was ever the same. I oversaw launches and activations in Venice, China, and India. From there, I went to Berlin to work as Press Manager for an international design studio, which was life-changing! Being part of a dynamic studio environment meant being able to communicate and translate creative processes firsthand.

Since 2018 I’ve worked with various design studios on all aspects of PR and communications including Pentagram and The National Trust.

Q:What excites you about working on our clients’ thought leadership?

A: Aside from the diversity and constant acquisition of knowledge that you undoubtedly gain from working with clients, I really like getting to know more about the creatives behind the brand and assisting them in telling their personal stories and expertise. There’s something amazing about working with people within companies who have such interesting experience coupled with a passion and knowledge for what they’re doing and finding opportunities and outlets where this can be communicated.

Thanks for sharing what makes you tick, Alice. We’re excited to have you on the team, helping our clients lead with brilliant ideas.
